Phases of the Moon

The Moon is Earth’s only natural satellite. This means that it is in orbit around the Earth. It takes the Moon, on average, 28 days (27.3 days to be precise), to make a complete orbit around the Earth. But because the Earth is moving around the sun at the same time, it takes the moon 29.5 days to go through its eight different ‘phases’ (also known as a lunar month). In this lesson, students will design a 3D model showing the 8 lunar phases.
