ASTRONAUT TOOLKIT
The International Space Station (ISS) is the location for this lesson. Students learn the history of 3D printing in space before accepting the challenge to assist the astronauts with replacing tools needed in their toolkit. Screwdriver bits and wrenches are needed and students design and then test their 3D prints. What other tools might the astronauts need while in space? Can they be 3D printed? Discuss what improvement can be made to the student’s 3D printed tools.
