    QR Code

    QR Code

Quick Response Codes, or QR Codes were invented in Japan in 1974 by an automotive company. These two dimensional barcodes are meant to be scanned and contain information that is read by a machine. Visually known by little black squares in seemingly random patterns, they can be read by a smartphone camera and are used in marketing, inventory tracking and just about everything you buy in the grocery store.

    Rubber Band Plane

    Rubber Band Plane

The rubber band-powered plane is missing its wings and horizontal stabilizers! Students are challenged to design and 3D print these components in this two-part lesson. First, students learn the basics of flight and simple aerofoil designs before designing their own wings. Then they 3D print their wings and stabilizers. Next, students assemble their plane with the provided fuselage and propellers along with their wing designs and horizontal stabilizers. Discuss the various student designs and if improvements can be made.

    Screw and Nut

    Screw and Nut

A nut is a type of fastener with a threaded hole. Nuts are almost always used with a mating screw or bolt to fasten multiple parts together. The two pieces are kept together by a combination of their threads’ friction, a slight stretching of the screw and compression of the arts to be held together.

    Solar System 2

Designing a display of planets introduces the concept of proportional relationships. Visual aids (basketball vs golf ball for example) can help visualize the concept. Including the sun in the design will make the other planets tiny so it is advisable not to include the sun in the model. Rotate the model 45% in the Z axis and scale to 90% to fit the printing area of the eDee 3D printer.
