    Stackable Planetary Gear Mechanism (Reducer)

    Stackable Planetary Gear Mechanism (Reducer)

A fully functional hand-cranked model of a multi-stage planetary reducer. Each stage has a gear ratio of 1:6, so the overall gear ratio of a 3-stage reducer is 1:216.  The design allows for an unlimited number of stages, but a practical limit is 3 stages. Assembly takes about 30 minutes. Some of the cogs needs to be shaved so it can rotate freely. Mind the direction of the gears to assemble it correctly.

    Stereometry set

    Stereometry set

    Stereometry

This model consists of the following parts:
    Cube bottom
The base of a cube. When assembled with the cube bottom, this forms a cube suitable for illustrating how planes of various shapes intersect the cube at three pre-determined points in the Stereometry lesson.
    Cube top
The top of a cube. When assembled with the cube bottom, this forms a cube suitable for illustrating how planes of various shapes intersect the cube at three pre-determined points in the Stereometry lesson.
    Cuts
Various shapes that are used as planes to cut through a cube in the Stereometry lesson. Shapes include a hexagon, two rectangles, a square, a trapezoid and a triangle.

    Tarantula Engine Cutout

    Tarantula Engine Cutout

Cut through a simplified rocket engine. This model needs to be printed with supports. Use the support placement settings “touching buildplate only” so the supports are created only on the outside of the engine. Use pliers to remove the supports; it can be a bit tricky to remove all the supports around the flaps.

    Tensegrity Table

    Tensegrity Table

Tensegrity is a structural principle based on individual pieces under compression inside a structure that is under continual tension in such a way that the individual pieces to not touch each other while the tensioned pieces (for example, twine or wire) delineate the system’s structure. In other words, one is left wondering how the individual pieces seem to float in mid-air. This model contains the bars and top/bottom pieces for a table type of structure.

    Trammel of Archimedes

    Trammel of Archimedes

A trammel of Archimedes is a mechanism that generates the shape of an ellipse. It consists of two shuttles which are confined (trammeled) to perpendicular channels or rails and a rod which is attached to the shuttles by pivots at fixed positions along the rod. Use the picture as a guide to put the moving parts in the correct rails during assembly. Don’t tighten the screws too much.
